elroos Posted November 26, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted November 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone recommend an adapter for Leica screw mount lenses to Sony NEX E-mount? I am looking for a good quality adapter that keeps the lens well centered (aperture and distance scale) on the camera and that has no problems with infinity focusing. I have a Voigtlander adapter for Leica M > E-mount which is very good but they don't seem to make one for Leica screw mount. Thanks!
Advertisement Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Hi elroos, Take a look here Adapter M39 (LTM, LSM, L39) > E-mount (Sony NEX). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted November 26, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted November 26, 2011 I don't know the adapter for M-bayonet for a Sony Nex. Though it should be no problem to fix a common adapter for 39mm-screw-mount lenses to the Sony adapter's M-mount. There are plenty of those adapters for screw- to M-mount around from Voigtlaender (not always reliable) and many old ones from Leitz/Leica.
elroos Posted November 26, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks UliWer. Yes, that's another option but if possible I would like to avoid stacking adapters.
christer Posted November 26, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted November 26, 2011 There is an eBay seller in HongKong who has a good reputation, can't remember the name, but it is something with "rose" in it. Â I have had bad experience with a low price adapter. I now use a Novoflex for M>NEX and I am highly satisfied. They also make LSM>NEX adapters. Â I bought my NEX-5n in order to use my M lenses, but I found the kit 18-55mm lens so good I hardly bother with the Leica lenses. The exception would be when I need a large aperture with a long focal lens.

I looked for a Novoflex LSM>NEX adapter but couldn't find it. Are you sure there is one? I would be very interested!

Sorry about that. Â I just searched eBay (adapter sony nex ltm) and found two dozen offers.
elroos Posted November 27, 2011 Author Share #7 Â Posted November 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) No problem Christer. I have one from ebay now and it's reasonable for its price but I'd like to upgrade to one of better quality.
elroos Posted November 29, 2011 Author Share #8 Â Posted November 29, 2011 I have just ordered a LEICA-M to SONY NEX E-mount adapter with HELICOID from hawks_factory on Ebay. This is not a M39 adapter but it has a helicoid which allows you to focus much closer than the MFD of RF lenses, a very welcome addition! The adapter gets good reviews and was advised to me on another forum. I will keep you posted on my experience with this adapter.
earleygallery Posted November 29, 2011 Share #9 Â Posted November 29, 2011 There's no reason why you shouldn't just use an LTM to M adapter, probably why they don't bother with an LTM specific version.
