dannirr Posted February 19, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have seen a lot here about backfocus. I am not really clear what that means - perhaps someone can explain that to me. Â My Tri Elmar, when at infinity, does not bring the rangefinder into alignement (yet the images look ok to me). It does not go past, it simply never gets to alignement. Is this backfocus? Â Danni

Shootist Posted February 19, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 19, 2007 Not really. Backfocus is when you focus on a object and that object is not in focus and some other object behind the one you are focusing on is in focus. It can be caused by a misaligned rangefinder or a out of spec lens. With a auto focus SLR it is caused by a misaligned focusing sensor.

I mean real infinity, like the moon or a distant mountain.
