Unscientific test #99.

Just loaded up one of the 'naughty' cards:-

A Sandisk 32Gig Extreme HD Video (30 MB/s transfer rate) and fired off a couple of quick tests: -

Single drive mode, Compressed DNG & 1Meg Basic JPEG in B&W.

Consistenly got 7 consecutive shots before buffer filled.

Time from first shutter press to buffer clear, (so inc the time for the 7 shots).

55s @ ISO 2500

47s @ ISO 160

Give or take a sec or two.

Doesn't feel any slower than before, and that was with a naughty card as I mentioned. 1.174 Seems ok here I'd say :)

Firmware 1.174

DNG uncompressed

Sandisk 32Gb Extreme HD Video 20 MB/s

ISO 400

7 shots on C and processing took 26 seconds.

2400 ISO - ~30 seconds processing

160 ISO ~26 seconds

Again at 160 but with a more complex scene (backyard covered in snow) - 26 seconds

Tested with 7 compressed DNG - 160 ISO, 20 seconds!

I'm good with the results, however I rarely shoot on C. I'm a slow shooter.

EDIT: 20mb per second card

Weird on the new firmware.

I don't use Sandisk cards, but do shoot with large capacity (8GB / 16GB) cards. I upgraded the firmware and over the last three weddings I didn't notice any slow-down at all with the M9.

Is this only on the Sandisk SD cards?

Jamie, which brand of SD cards do you use so successfully? A test for my brand loyalty!
