Terrible new problem after upgrading firmware

Never had one in 2 years and 10.000 exposures, except when I foolishly used a new type sandisk a few weeks ago. Ditched the card and no problems afterwards.

I had the problem with a card I used for 2 years without problems.

But maybe thinking of the chart. Isn't' it possible that this problem exists because one activates the shutter in his ( dark) bag by accident?

A little less than 2 years ago, brand-new M9 on tripod, cap off, around freezing temperature, 5 or 7 shot bracketing resulted in a series of black frames. Switched camera off for a few minutes. Worked fine after that episode that day. I am afraid black frames is not a new phenomenon but an M9 feature - occasionally. Back then I used a 16 GB SanDisk Extreme.

No more SanDisk for me!

I recovered one of the files from my D2. It looks like this:

Today I did a photo shoot of about 200 shots. I'm happy to report that the black frame issue did not recur. That's a good thing, because today's shots included some portraits of legendary San Francisco street photographer Vladimir, with his heavily customized M2s.

Someone on this thread had suggested that my problem may have been caused by my failure to reformat my card after installing the new firmware. Perhaps that's correct. I've since reformatted (in the camera) and have seen nothing odd since.

:D

The problem is clearly the card - they are el-cheapo Korean Memorette cards, bought directly from the factory. They act up in all cameras I tried them in, I had to reformat them three times in the DMR before it would even write to them. I think I will just throw them away.
