Hello friends, sorry, but I have sold my x1. The picture quality was perfect but the camera felt very "plastic" to me. I loved the design, but the feeling was not what I expected. When the build in flash did not stay in, it reached for me the bottomline. Now I bought the Fuji x100. And finally I get the feeling back from my good old M4. What a great camera, the x100 is. With the two separate vieuwfinders possibility. With a silence button for instant silence fotowork. At last I've got a "real" camera in my hands. With a lot of professional options. I will keep you informed.

enjoy your new toy.... the good news is that the used prices for the x1 have gone down a bit and when you decide to come back to the x1 it won't cost as much;)

Feels like an M4 eh? Well that had the option for alternative lenses. Won't you miss that flexibility?

Ofcourse some time I will miss this, but I have tried a secondhand M8, sold by a shop with garantee and in no time there was trouble with the lcd screen ("coffeestain") and the menu's give some trouble. For every lens you must buy a special filter to avoid magenta colors on your foto's.So this camera went also directly where it came from,..:o

So don't tell I have tried...

As an M4 "real camera" fan you should give an M9 a try instead of buying toys ;)

edit: You may miss the outstanding Leica image quality.

Sorry, not quite. I truly think there is a lot of psychlogic thinking that (digital) leica's are alsway better and have special "leica" software with the special "leica" feeling to what the produce. This started with the difference between the Digilux2 and the Panasonic twin.

Well I heve own them both, and believe me, they where just the same.

In a lot of test on internet, you hardley can put the finger on the difference between the X1 an de X100. So are we fooling ourselfs?

If you buy yourself a verry expensive toy, whitch nowadays are made of eccentric materials , you will, no must believe youselfs that this is the only thing....:o

I´m a daily CANON EOS pro camera shooter, I don´t "own" an M9 and I love my X100. Leica to me personally is MP/M3 and slidefilm/b&w ...

... BUT ...

I test a lot of cameras, shooting with them for weeks and months, included M9 and X1. When it comes to perfect conditions Leica glass always shows its potential. For everyday photography (paid by clients) I don´t need that, other cameras and lenses are great too. The X1 image quality is great, the usability of X100 (finder) is better but I wouldn´t switch to X100 if I had an X1.

I´m not a fanboy (according to digital cameras).

Swanny Swanny, much has been written about these two cameras. Why not go to your nearest Leica dealer, one like Jacobs, so that you can handle both cameras and see how each fits into your way of working?

both are great cameras producing the same images in terms of quality.

however, there's one thing that the x100 is not having: the philosophy of design based on simplicity. and this is something that you will not get in exchange.

it means you're back to the long menu thingies with lots of options you don't always use.

i'm not saying the x1 is perfect, soooo far from it. sometimes i was even ready to smash the camera because of a missed shot. and it's now gone back to repair because of the broken flash popping up erratically.

but i will keep that damn camera, despite the fact i bought an m9, because when you shoot with it, you simply don't do anything else. you just shoot, your mind isn't blurred by feature and buttons you forgot to click on etc etc etc. and that is a HUGE plus.

good luck on the x100. it's a great camera with its own personality. in many ways, it is becoming a classic.

every time i come back to the files from my x1, every time i pull it out of my kit bag on my travels or muse with it's little dings and engineering facets, i'm absolutely delighted and vow never to let it pass..

Imo njet.

I used both - and sold both.

Will stick to my M9 and Oly E-P3.

The X100 is as much a diva as the X1 is. The latter serves better image quality. That's my personal experience only, of course.

Both cameras have a hard time to autofocus in low light, the X100 needs more fiddling with its menus and a good knowledge about its manual. Its white balance and light metering fails quite often. Even after it went to Fuji for repair.

In terms of IQ I'd always choose the X1 again.

Greetings
