pixpop Posted November 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I have some post WW2 Leica brochures and manuals (mostly IIIF related) and a signed letter to a US serviceman in response to his inquiry. I'm trying to find a good home for them, and to get a sense of whether they are valuable. If they're not particularly valuable, I'll let them go for nothing. My guess is that they are mainly of historical interest. Also, can anyone decode that signature? Here's an image of the letter: http://i.imgur.com/EEn1j.jpg The documents were give to me by a relative of addressee of this letter (now deceased). Thanks, Neil Baylis

jaapv Posted November 15, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 15, 2011 I agree JC is a well qualified keeper for such a letter, but what about Leica itself? It might fit in their collection.
Twotone Posted November 15, 2011 Share #7 Posted November 15, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is the signature on the letter Ernst Leitz's?
luigi bertolotti Posted November 15, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 15, 2011 The initial seems to me more of a "G"... and there used to be a Guthert Leitz in the Company... anyway, family name is Leitz by sure.
jaapv Posted November 15, 2011 Share #9 Posted November 15, 2011 Could be. The last letter looks like the German "long" Z.
Twotone Posted November 15, 2011 Share #10 Posted November 15, 2011 Thanks guys. Presumably the stamp on the bottom left is significant too, a sort of filing system for Leitz documents?
jaapv Posted November 15, 2011 Share #11 Posted November 15, 2011 No, in the past official letters in Germany had to have a tax stamp.
