Ecaton Posted November 6, 2011 Share #21 Â Posted November 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you can tray and find the voigtlander CV nokton 50 f1.5 asph. this is a fantastic lens and can be got hold of for a few hundred pounds and it's hard to tell the difference between it an the lux 50 asph.here is a review of it Voigtlander Nokton 50 1.5 Lens Review | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS Â +1.This is one of the lenses constantly getting the highest marks in reviews. Also in terms of keeping its value one of the savest purchases. If a Summilux alike rendering is desired but there is neither one available or the bank account temporarily vetos a purchase the Nokton is the right pick. And on another note, there is presently a Nokton 50 f1.1 in the buy and sell section for Euro 650 (I have no conncetion to the seller). A completley different beast, but adding some spice to your lens set up.

A completley different beast, but adding some spice to your lens set up. Strongly agree on the 1.5 Nokton. I've had one over a year, and it has very good performance - the best of any Voigtlander's I've tried (6 models). It has more CA than my Summicron, and is larger (52mm filter) and the hood blocks a bit of the finder - but overall it's one of my best lenses. Erwin Puts ranked it ahead of the old non-asph Summilux-M.
Ivan Muller Posted November 8, 2011 Share #23 Â Posted November 8, 2011 Per had some wise words! Leave the lens it will just clutter your vision...take the money and go somewhere interesting where you can take some photographs...keep this up for a year and then you will know exactly what lens to get if any...... I only have one lens , a 35mm equivalent and have used it for exactly a year now ( and I am going to keep it this way for at least another year ) and only occasionally do I wish for something slightly longer.... having one lens makes everything so much more simpler, clearer and faster! There is much to learn and master on the M don't make it more difficult by introducing more variables!
humba Posted November 9, 2011 Share #24 Â Posted November 9, 2011 Same here, Â i am using the biogons 21 and 35 and like them a lot. Right now i am thinking of replacing my 50 Summilux with a Sonnar or a Planar and eventually the 90 Elmarit as well so M9 Camera and all Zeiss lenses then. I like their look and feel. sblitz Posted November 9, 2011 Share #25 Â Posted November 9, 2011 humba -- then why own an m9? for the sensor?
bill Posted November 9, 2011 Share #26 Â Posted November 9, 2011 Name another full-frame camera that takes M Mount lenses. Â I can see the point - I have two (a 50mm Sonnar and a 35mm Biogon) that live on my MP. I could have bought a Summilux at the same time as the MP but went for the Sonnar because I prefer the Zeiss rendition. I used to use a lot of Zeiss glass when I had Contax SLRs. TomB_tx Posted November 9, 2011 Share #27 Â Posted November 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Name another full-frame camera that takes M Mount lenses. Â Exactly - or another ff digital that can be used just like a film camera. I got my M9 for just that reason, and to use my 40-60 yr-old Leica lenses. Since then I've bought no new Leica lenses, but some Voigtlander and Zeiss in the ranges I use less often, where I'd never pay Leica prices for a lens I used rarely. I'm generally happy with the results they give, and would rather extend the camera I have with cheaper lenses than carry a second camera for the occassional shot. sblitz Posted November 10, 2011 Share #28 Â Posted November 10, 2011 i have the zeiss 21mm biogon for my m9 and i think it is a great lens. my point gets back what are you paying up for -- the box or the lens. does this mean when fuji comes out with a ff sensor that can take m mount lens you go there instead of the leica box? seems like you would since the lenses are third party. and it makes even less sense to me to pay up for a leica film camera and exclusively use nonleica lenses -- buy a bessa or zeiss box. takes the same film and i am fairly certain the speeds are accurate. please note, i am not saying one shouldn't use a broad range of lens brands to suit one's taste. i am saying the excluding leica lenses from the pack seems silly when you paid up for the box to attach the lenses to. !Nomad64 Posted November 10, 2011 Share #29 Â Posted November 10, 2011 I had the Planar 50 myself for quite a long time. It was (and is) a superb lens, surgically sharp on the whole field and with an incredible resistance to flare. On my M8 I had no focus shift at all. I sold it only after getting a 50 'lux PreAsph. If budget is your limit go for it. You won't regret. Â Cheers Bruno
Shade Posted November 13, 2011 Share #30 Â Posted November 13, 2011 The 50 zeiss sonnar is one of the most astounding lens i have used. Combine that with a friendly price tag, I think it is a no brainer.
