edmond_terakopian Posted April 15, 2012 Share #42 Â Posted April 15, 2012 There are exactly two places in the world where you can do actual street photography: Paris (France), and New York City, NY (USA). Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Â Whilst Paris is gorgeous & probably the birthplace of street photography, sadly, following the French privacy laws, it's no longer the dream place it used to be. Anyone thinking of publishing any street pictures from Paris (possibly including the Internet) should definitely read: http://photothisandthat.co.uk/2012/02/15/the-french-privacy-law/ Â NY is wonderful though, as is Venice and London. philipus Posted April 15, 2012 Share #44 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Any town or city will (and really should) do. Â I sometimes get a bit tired of the perpetual Manhattan focus in discussions about street photo.
michali Posted April 15, 2012 Share #45 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Downtown Johannesburg, South Africa- An amazing mix of 1st and 3rd world in close proximity. Having said that it's not the safest place to be walking around with your Leica or any camera for that matter.... Back in the mid-70s while working on a university project, I had to use my M3 as a "knobkerrie" (African club- Knobkierrie - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) to extricate myself from a situation. The camera still has the dent in it. Â Indian cities also offer many opportunities and are much safer.
rosuna Posted April 15, 2012 Share #46 Â Posted April 15, 2012 Manhattan and Paris are the two most photographed cities in the world. They offer many possibilities but also look familiar. Â For Spain I would recommend Madrid, because is a large and open city. It is like New York in this regard: different people, different neighborhoods with very different character, and the real center of economic and political power. Â I would recommend Seville as well. It is a wonderful city and a very special place. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Las Bodas de Figaro, Rossini's The Barber of Seville and Beethoven's Fidelio are located in Seville.
