Stealth3kpl Posted October 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've read somewhere the suggestion that the asph is more prone to flare than the version 4. Is this the general thinking? I have both versions and haven't noticed any difference but I've only used my asph with approx 8 films so far. I'm about to sell my version 4 but don't want to let it go if I'm going to start noticing a problem. Pete
Advertisement Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Hi Stealth3kpl, Take a look here 35/2 Asph and Glare. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
microview Posted October 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2011 Try not to sell the v4 if possible: you may later regret it. I write from experience! 'Upgraded' to the Summarit and then Zeiss 35/2.8 but still feel some quality was thrown out with the bathwater (eg the baby.....).
Ivar B Posted October 20, 2011 Share #3 Posted October 20, 2011 I have owned both lenses (and still own the ASPH) and my experience was actually the opposite of the one you describe. Flare was a problem with V4 and the problem has been less with the ASPH. If this is just an individual lens issue, I don`t know. I tested both lenses side by side and it is quite easy to see that the ASPH is sharper. Not so much in the centre perhaps, but clearly towards the edges. That being said, it is easy to understand that V4 is still very popular and many like the way it draws.
