Hi Emma,

Ebay's good but a bit risky because you might get something that's in deep need of CLA.

If you want to go for auctions, there's currently an interesting auction at iGavel with several M3s from a collector's estate. It concludes in 5 days so it may be worth following it. Some of the M3s sell with lens attached.

Also, and I know you're in Oz, but have you had a look at dealers in the US and Europe? I'm not sure about import duties for you. I had (as expected) to pay 19% VAT on my M3 when it shipped from the US to Holland.

You can likely get a camera with shipping and dealer's guarantee for not much more than what the one you bid on sold for. Ffordes has an M3 for £499. Newoldcamera (Italy) has one for €550. Keh.com is another alternative with several bodies for around USD600.

Hope it helps

Philip

I was looking for a fix it up project really . There was a lot of potential in that m3, but 25 hrs work to rebuild the shutter and rangefinder, plus covering, maybe a chassis repaint, and whatever parts it needs, there are nicer cameras around for that money. maybe. Ill finish a few projects I have going, and then maybe sell a canon and a 111b, and then think about. An m3!
