It is a scam. This crowd has tried this on Australian Ebay. They have numerous items at minimal auction starting price, then state "do not bid" but contact us directly and the price is $1300. Here it's been A$1300 on each item. They are in breach of Ebay rules and after having been reported to Ebay, their listings have been cancelled. They use a number of names, but the messages are the same. So far here, they've tried this scam twice with around 20 to 40 listings each. Don't get caught out.:eek::eek:

I would like to report a Gmail user who has sent messages that violate the Gmail Program Policies and/or Terms of Use. - Gmail Help

The listing has been removed by eBay, so I can't see the address any more, but this link above might help close down the gmail account.

That hadn't occurred to me. Why, what and how?

Thought you looked a bit shady.

Damn, I got busted.

Andy, I think that's a great idea. But these things are always recurring, and the sad part is, there will be another email for fraud use in another 5 minutes... sigh.

Then isn't it great that here is a Forum in which people can be alerted to it as it occurs.

I have reported it to ebay

There a quite a few more offerings, apparently by the same scammer. Just search for "ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY - BUY IT NOW $1800!!!" in the product description. I've just reported about 16 Leica related ones.
