I have recently acquired this lens cap and I am wondering whether it is genuine or not. The cap is heavy brass with "Leica" in thin script unlike the other two 36mm caps I have which made me think it may be a copy. It may at one time have been painted black as there is still paint on the inside surface. I was lookingi at a copy of the Leica directions from 1935 and there is a cap with similar engraving illustrated. Can anyone advise? Thanks, Simon

No lens cap had such thin engraving, I'd say... there were lot of variants of it, but the letters were always "fatter" (not engraved, but stamped), differently from the "Leica" engraving on top of the cameras. Me too would look East...

Anyway... don't worry too much ;)...surely didn't cost you a lot... there are more "important" fakes around...
