if i import all my large 20mb images from my sd card into aperture3, then delete the many i do not like from within aperture 3, am i needlessly increasing the size of my aperture library by not deleting those images in camera?

not sure if even after deletion they still take up some space in the library.

i understand the way the trash works, i just wasn't sure if by importing lots of images that are going to be deleted anyway would somehow increase the size of my library even after i delete them, but i guess that is not the case.

wasn't sure if aperture keeps some kind of traces of even deleted images. i just wanted to keep my library size down as much as possible.

thanks

Real-life example. My wife records video of my daughter riding and it lands in Aperture. My daughter will periodically go through and delete the older videos from Aperture. I see a tangible increase in free space on the Mac after I delete Aperture trash and then delete the OS trash.

I suppose it's possible that there are lingering "tidbits" here and there, but from what I've see their hypothetical volume is not of concern to me.
