Is is possible to mount a Zuiko OM lens such as the Zuiko OM 18mm f3.5 on the M8 with somekind of an adapter? I am using it on my Canon DSLR with excellent result and would love to be able to use it on the M.

I searched the forum for it and could not find anything. Hopefully someone has done it.

No rf coupling? So you cant tell if its focused well?

The RF coupling is not a complicated mechanism in itself, but is VERY complex to add it to a lens not designed for ... given the short flange distance of Leica (shorter than any 24x36 SLR) virtually any SLR lens can be adapted to a Leica, but the focus must be guessed... :o.. for a 18 it can be not a great issue (I found even an adapter for the complex Zeiss Contarex bayonet mount, just to try the famous Distagon 18 f4...). The only "SLR type" devices which can be rather easily RF adapted are the focal multipliers 1,4 x, 2x, 3x... (Leitz even made one for M, which was never officially listed), but the few that were marketed had noticeably poor performance.

Not through the viewfinder. You would set the focus distance by the scale on the lens

That's correct, I am focusing that way when I use the Zuiko 18mm adapted to my Canon 5D2. Most of the time I use f16 and just set the distance scale. With the 5D2 I can see the composition. I guess with the M8 I will need to use an external viewfinder of 25mm or can I compose through the M8 VF?

Please look here:

I don't have that Zuiko 24 shift anymore, and ok, it´s mounted on an M9, but you will see on the pictures the adapter, which I ordered in Italy (Adriano Lolli - Home Page). I only had to paint some parts in the inside of it with matte black, because when shifting the lens reflections appeared. With a non shifting lens this problem doesn't happen.

The Adriano Lolli adapters are cheaper than the Novoflex, and better made than others that are even cheaper...
