Not everybody does that. Sending the blank cards to Leica won´t do you any good.
stump4545 Posted September 8, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted September 8, 2011 cant i just fill them in and send them in now? Â not sure but i am thinking that people leave them blank and when there is an issue fill them out and then send them in as to start their warranty at that point. i know this is not how it is supposed to go down but i guess that is why people leave them blank and choose not to send them in upon purchase. k-hawinkler Posted September 8, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted September 8, 2011 Welcome to the forum. Â You can register online as well. No need to send in the cards. But keep your purchase receipt. That's what Leica would like to get a copy of if you need to send in your gear for warranty repair. Â Best, K-H.

k-hawinkler Posted September 8, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted September 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I registered all my Leica lenses, whether bought new or used. That way I can always look up their serial numbers online. Just in case. Â K-H.
StephenPatterson Posted September 9, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted September 9, 2011 I called Leica USA in New Jersey and asked this question. I was advised that while registering online is good that they needed to also receive the warranty cards for cameras and lenses. My dealer did not stamp any of my cards, but I sent them in with all appropriate information filled in and quickly received my Passport warranty cards for my lenses. If I have an issue with the M9-P I'll send along a copy of the bill of sale as well.
}{B Posted September 9, 2011 Share #9 Â Posted September 9, 2011 When I recently bought a used M7 it came with the remainder of the five year warranty and the Passport card had been completed with the first owners details and stamped as validated. I was advised that I did not need to register the change of ownership and I assumed that if I were to claim under the warranty I could complete the second owner details at that time. Â Also If I were to sell the camera with some of the warranty period remaining the new owner would be able to use the Passport as there is no space for a third owners details. Am I wrong in these assumptions?

Am I wrong in these assumptions?  Ah yes. Passport guaranty must be validated by Leica UK. us poor benighted foreigners are not blessed by this passport, however... Â am i out of luck? Â i know i have the warranty cards but when i bought these lenses used i dont think i got the recepts of purchase.
andybarton Posted September 9, 2011 Share #12 Â Posted September 9, 2011 No receipt, no warranty. You need to have proof of ownership
MachineGun Posted September 9, 2011 Share #13  Posted September 9, 2011 No receipt, no warranty. You need to have proof of ownership   Andy Would a copy of a PayPal invoice be acccepted?  Thanks MachineGun
andybarton Posted September 9, 2011 Share #14 Â Posted September 9, 2011 I have no idea, you'd have to ask Leica. Sorry.

jaapv Posted September 9, 2011 Share #16 Â Posted September 9, 2011 But Leica can be very accommodating. When I lost the invoice on a DLux 4 they checked factory records and when it turned out the camera was shipped by Leica within the guaranty period they accepted that. So even if you lost your formal right it does no harm ti inquire.
k-hawinkler Posted September 9, 2011 Share #17 Â Posted September 9, 2011 No, it won't. Â Â Could you please elaborate? Â K-H.
jaapv Posted September 9, 2011 Share #18 Â Posted September 9, 2011 I equally don't see why not, an invoice is an invoice. Anyhow, a bonafide seller should be able to supply a duplicate invoice.
matlep Posted September 9, 2011 Share #19 Â Posted September 9, 2011 Ok, i might have jumped the gun, but my assumption to why a PayPal invoice won't work is that PayPal is not a very used way of paying amongst the certified Leica dealers. If at any? Â I think it might be hard to get all the required details on the invoice. eg. serial number and some kind of proof that it is not faked. Â But i might be wrong. Best to check with Leica. A PayPal receipt from a private sell will definitely not work.
delander †Posted September 9, 2011 Share #20  Posted September 9, 2011 lots of dealers dont stamp the warranty card but the receipt is proof purchase. I lost the receipt for one of my cameras but the well known London dealer who advertises here supplied a duplicate with no problem  Jeff
