Which 28mm?

I have to say that the Zeiss 35mm F2.8 Biogon is the best 35mm lens I have ever used. All modern lenses are good and all produce pictures that really only appear different at big sizes BUT the Zeiss 35mm F2.8 does produce outstanding images that look so sharp and are more like medium format than any other 35mm format lens I have ever seen. A truly amazing lens !

I agree, had this little lens for about a year, it's great - then I went for the 35 summilux FLE, which is even better (and way more expensive obviously)... (sorry for being slightly off-topic...)

Good point! But hopefully there is a saying somewhere here that needs to be made and that is: I wish for all here, when contradicting oneself, do it in the form of improvement :)

Indeed :D

Though I do find it somewhat amusing the number of threads that ask "Should I buy lens A or B" that end with the OP stating "I just bought lens C"

In my case, Im just a sucker for rare things. If it was not the silver version, Im not sure I would have been as interested. But there aren't many of those around and the fact that someone had it available made it feel like it was meant to be.

I picked up a mint second-hand 28 ASPH Elmarit not so long ago and have been happy with its performance on my M7, most recently on a trip to St. Petersburg in less than ideal weather. Be warned, though, that it's a tiny lens and some dexterity is called for when fitting it to the body and removing it. It's light as well, which is great when travelling, and it's got a neat hood. Its price, even new, is not to be sneezed at either. Not having any experience of other 28s for the M, though, I can't say how it ranks in comparison, but you probably couldn't go far wrong with one.
