steelduck Posted September 12, 2011 Share #21 Posted September 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) My year old M9 is missing white white here and there, it even has brass showing in one corner. It is a tool for taking pictures.

charlesphoto99 Posted September 12, 2011 Share #22 Posted September 12, 2011 Funny story: I purposely removed the white M9 paint from the front of the camera but when I sent it back to Leica for a cla they repainted the logo for me without my asking! How nice of them....
pgk Posted September 12, 2011 Share #23 Posted September 12, 2011 Is it the DEET or the base solvent that they use in the repellent? I'm sure that I have read that its the DEET itself which can attack plastics. That said I used it heavily when using an M6 without any problems. Henry G Posted December 25, 2011 Share #24 Posted December 25, 2011 Hi I just updated my firmware and noticed on the back of my M9 the "I" is missing in the "Made in Germany" Label. I will want to know the solution and hope it is not to send the camera body to Leica Henry G
CalArts 99 Posted December 25, 2011 Share #25 Posted December 25, 2011 I just updated the new firmware and it took the "e" off my 'Made in Germany" label. So it sounds like either the 'i' and and 'e' is being removed by the new firmware. Anybody have different letters coming off after updating?
andybarton Posted December 25, 2011 Share #26 Posted December 25, 2011 I updated the Firmware on my MP and ALL the letters fell off. Must be the mild weather we're having.
anta Posted December 26, 2011 Share #27 Posted December 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Even worse on my chrome M9-P: Both the white paint and the "M9-P" engraving are gone! Maybe I should ask that guy who paints pink M9s to paint "M9-P" and a red Leica dot on the front of my camera? should be a child's play for him, gifted with such manual skills.. ;-) _________________________ Il cimento della fotografia | Photography and little more, by Andrea Taurisano
vanhulsenbeek Posted December 26, 2011 Share #28 Posted December 26, 2011 Hidoes anybody experienced white paint fallen apart from digits/letters of Leica M9? Yes, after some months of use. Iook the rest of with a toothpick. And lo and behold: -the camera looks cool! -my pictures are better, or so it feels!
ayewing Posted December 26, 2011 Share #29 Posted December 26, 2011 It would appear that white paint is less adherent than black. I have not noticed anyone complaining of loss of black paint apart from brassing. I have had no problems as my M9 is in the gunmetal paint finish and all the lettering is black apart from the white legends above the control buttons on the back.
