viramati Posted September 20, 2011 Share #41  Posted September 20, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Went back to test this lens again And I have to say in many ways it is superb. the focussing absolutely spot on wide ope and stopped down. bokeh is good the only real problem and this can be a big problem in v=certain situations is the extreme purple fringing. If it wasn't for this it would be an instant buy    Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Hi viramati, Take a look here new CV 35 1.2 on m9?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaques Posted September 20, 2011 Author Share #42  Posted September 20, 2011 is this so much the lens as it is the aperture? because I get a goodly deal of purple fringing from my Noctilux at f1- though your example is extreme. It is annoying at times but I think it is just the price of the aperture (and overexposure?)?  noctilux at f1: Welcome, dear visitor! jsrockit Posted September 20, 2011 Share #43 Â Posted September 20, 2011 Yeah, it seems purple fringing occurs on most fast lenses on the M9 when you have objects against bright white skys.

viramati Posted September 20, 2011 Share #45  Posted September 20, 2011 thanks for the input as I didn't really know this was an aperture thing. it gets better but is still there when stopped down. I was even thinking of selling my 35 cron asph to fund this lens but maybe I'm mad to think of this. anyway I was more impressed on my 2nd looking. Anyway here are some more test shots  stopped down to around 2.8 Welcome, dear visitor! Mauribix Posted September 20, 2011 Share #46 Â Posted September 20, 2011 Thank you David... is that Barrel Distortion btw? Â I used to have the Nokton 35 1.2, but I can't recall of any visible barrel distortion.(I may well be wrong). Â Ciao
viramati Posted September 20, 2011 Share #47 Â Posted September 20, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) certainly looks like it and yes I would say it is. I can correct it in LR3 but it is quite strong!!
D&A Posted September 20, 2011 Share #48  Posted September 20, 2011 Thank you David...is that Barrel Distortion btw?  I used to have the Nokton 35 1.2, but I can't recall of any visible barrel distortion.(I may well be wrong).  Ciao  Maurizio, there is a relatively small-moderate amount of barrel distortion, but not too bad for most subjects. Again it depends on what your subject is. As for flair resistance, it's amazingly good in this area and this was a pleasant surprise. I shot with a aquantences newely aquired version II of this new lens and specifically tested for this...even with the sun directly on the edge of the frame.  Dave (D&A)
trylab Posted September 28, 2011 Share #49  Posted September 28, 2011 Just want to share some photos taken with this new Nokton 35 f/1.2 V2 lens.  All shot at 800 ASA, 1/90 sec , flame at 1/25 sec. From LR DNG, no tweaking at all except WB correction. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Anasebi Posted September 28, 2011 Share #50 Â Posted September 28, 2011 The so called purple fringing is a sensor issue. Truthfully the M9 handles it okay, but as long as a lens is fast enough, and the subject is less than optimal it will bring it out.

But IMHO, all the so-called "purple fringing" that I've seen in these shots, it's actually CA. The chairs, and the trees shots shows it quite clearly.
