Dear All,

I'm very new to the Forum so please forgive any mistakes. I have been a passionate Leica photographer for many years and last week my world was shattered when all my cameras and lenses were stolen. I was shooting a wedding at the Monkey Island Hotel Bray on Thames in the UK and someone smashed into my car and stole everything including all the SD cards with Katie & Alfi's images.

Where can I post a list on the forum of the stolen kit

Many thanks

Giles

That is a sad way to enter this forum. At least I hope insurance will cover you. Do alert Leica to the serial numbers of your gear. Some might come in for repair and give you a lead. And publicize all numbers in as many places of the Internet as you can find. That may hinder the fencing of the stuff.

What a bummer - having also suffered from theft I feel for you. Unfortunately insurance is unlikely to cover items stolen from a car :(

Check Craig's list, ebay and any other local listings. I hope you had a record of numbers (a lesson for all of us).

If it was insured under the "all risks" or "out of the home" section of your policy you should be OK provided that you took reasonable precautions, which, in the case of a vehicle, usually means (a) the vehicle was locked and (B) the items were not in view from outside.

I hate to write this but in my experience, home insurance doesn't cover professional, i.e. work use. There are several companies who cater for professional photography cover.

I did hear of your trouble and Tweeted, Facebooked and Google+ asking for the cards to be returned but sadly haven't heard a thing.

Thanks Edmond - I stand corrected! I was looking at it from the viewpoint of a private owner, not a working professional.

The GadgetTrak Camera Serial Search is a special search engine that allows you to enter the serial number of a camera and return any images we have found that were taken by that camera.

GadgetTrak Camera Serial Search: Find Your Lost/Stolen Camera

Hope this helps

Bob

I see in the list of supported camera types that the only Leica is the M8 which covers the 8.2 as well. Perhaps they should be considering extending to cover the M9, and X-1?
