Hi guys, this is my first post here as finally after many, many years of longing and waiting, on Monday this week I became the proud owner of my first Leica, a brand new M6 ttl. Just a quick first question. As I use flash so rarely I see little point in splashing out money on one of the Leica dedicated flashes. I have 2 others that I have used/use with my other camera systems, a SB 15 dedicated to my Nikon FA and a HX 18W which came with my Hexar RF. Would either or both be usuable on my M6 ttl? I'm sure this will be the first of many questions as I learn to use my new baby and wish to tap into the collective knowledge out there.

Cheers, Alan

I use 2 M6 TTL's. I also had several legacy flash units hanging about. I tried a couple of them after checking the trigger voltage and found them to be a bit of a hassle in use though the shots were lit well. In the end I picked up a Leica SF20 and on TTL mode it's been the easiest to use for the type of flash shots that I take.

I do use a little homemade bounce card rig and I tend to leave the diffuser on it most of the time.

Find a used SF20 - there's plenty on the market. It works great, and suits the Leica well in design. Great as a bring along - takes up very little room. It won't light up a cathedral by any means but I'm always surprised at the nice pics it's produced for me. I've taped a piece of extra diffusion material on the front along with the wide adaptor and it give a nice soft light. The Nikon SC-17 cord is usable for off camera TTL. Enjoy your camera.
