maccaco Posted August 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a SUMMICRON 50/2 version 4 and when I curl up on the M8 this I do not listen the click like the SUMMICRON CV Ultron 35 or 28. Almost inaudible (35 and 28 sounds loud click) ... The issue is that if I thread the lens a millimeter or so, the M8 detects a 75mm instead of 50mm ... Should I worry about this? ho_co Posted August 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 12, 2011 It's a problem with the lens-locking bar attached to the lens release button. That bar is supposed to "pop" into the slot on the lens. As long as you're aware of it, it probably isn't a major issue; but it does mean the lens isn't locking in place properly, and can probably be removed without pressing the lens release button. It's simply a case of tolerances both being on the plus side, but the first time you send the camera or lens for repair, I'd ask the agency to check the two out together. lct Posted August 12, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 12, 2011 Cleaning out the little notch here may be useful as well.

I have this similar issue. It did not lock easily. I always forced it a bit. In fact, the 50 Summi attaches so tight to the body, that I have seen wear and tear. I remedied this with the age-old trick of applying a little film thickness of vaseline to the barrel. It was annoying to me, as I bought it new (with my body). You can see that the lens flange has marks on it, for instance the area around the 6-bit codes. as well as the body that got a deep cut. You can see the locking knob got quite some scraping. (I have more than 30k shots now done on that body, and it looks quite stable now). Anyway, I can live with it, I decided, specifically with this procedure of greasing once in a while. I am not willing, after the warrantee period (I didn't notice it in time) to spend a couple of hundred buck to repair. albert
maccaco Posted August 15, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted August 15, 2011 I also "scratch" something, but not as much as you ... Thanks for the tip Alberti
Alberti Posted August 15, 2011 Share #6 Posted August 15, 2011 Just to note, of course I also slightly lubricate other lens flanges, even if these do not show wear. albert
