rafael_macia Posted August 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I plan a trip to Colombia for a month. Rather than lug my MacBook, I like the idea of taking a couple of SD cards, and a portable storage device. I have read reviews, both pro and con, of both the different brands of storage devices, and also of the option to just travel with extra cards. rather than a storage device. I never shoot a whole lot, and use an iMac/MacBook. thanks

MarkP Posted August 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 12, 2011 HyperShop - The Official Online Store for HyperJuice, HyperShield and HyperDrive take your pick but install your own hard drive (I installed a 500GB drive) Easy to use. Very fast data transfer. Good battery life. Really crap screen, but enough to navigate your way around the device and see the files. Compatible with Mac. If you search the forum there are a number of threads on this topic. Mark
como Posted August 12, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 12, 2011 Keep also the SD card issues in mind and use only cards that you have used before. I bought a new one for my holiday and had a lot of problems reading my files afterwards. On a stand alone data storage it is saver to write the files twice. Sometimes a file is not well transferred. By writing two times the change that the same file is corrupted twice is nihil. Have a good time! Co Morriën
wattsy Posted August 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 12, 2011 Personally I'd go with either MacBook Air 11" or a bunch of SD cards. The standalone storage devices (and I might also include the IPad in this category) fall in the middle between usefulness and portability a bit too much for my liking. ggriswold Posted August 12, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 12, 2011 Nexto... simple, non-destructive to SD cards (won't add spotlight files etc). I use my mine all the time and I feel it is better than a computer to do your first backup.
