It is so good, that I bought one for each camera body I own, Leica or non Leica - and I bought a few more, to make the perfect wrist strap with the same ingenious Leica quick attachment. Improve the best even, by cutting off the strange gum pad thing in the middle, wash the strap with normal hair shampoo a few times, use it for a few months and it will get soft, very comfortable and completely invisible. The ring system is of course transplantable to another strap if you like it (which I do in fact) For functionality in most things photographic, ThinkTank cannot be beaten in my opinion. However if you want something that looks the part visually you'll need to look elsewhere - Artisan & Artist do some very pretty stuff, albeit at pretty galling prices. To be honest the only reason I continued to use it for a while was because I'd paid for it. The original strap is perfectly adequate as far as I'm concerned. These days I've moved to a wrist strap. Being discrete, they match the camera and the shoulder-pad is comfortable whilst gripping the shoulder tenaciously. What more is needed of a strap? I use the standard strap, it works, its black, it came with the camera. I have five or six others on other cameras, they all work just as well. The strap I am using now for everything is the Domke swivelless strap. It is quite minimalistic but of very high quality. It is extremely comfortable because the webbing has some bulk. It has a non-slip rubber weave all along its length (except for the end tabs, of course). That's how I want things. "My tastes are simple – I just want the best." Tuananh Posted August 10, 2011 Share #18 Posted August 10, 2011 I have found a SAFE way to install the ORIGINAL M8/M8.2/M9/M9-P Leica nylon strap's D-ring lug fastener onto the NEW Leica wide saddle leather (a la carte) strap (#14455). With the original lug fastener, the leather strap will NOT rub against the side of the top plate of the Leica body just like how it is on the original nylon strap. It is very secure and I recommend this modification if you would like to change from the "painful" nylon strap to the more "comfortable" wide leather strap. The modification does require special tools, otherwise, it will ruin both the new leather Leica strap and the original lug fastener. If anyone is interested in installing the original Leica lug fastener onto the new Leica leather wide strap please contact me at your leisure. Two things speak against the swivel version. First, when stashing the camera in my bag, I worry about the hardware scratching the screen. The second is perhaps individual. I do mostly carry my camera with the strap diagonally over the opposite shoulder. (That way it is more secure, from snatchers but above all from swinging out and striking hard things.) And the swivels and snaps wind up in a place where I, like other mammals, have a collarbone and a breastbone. So they are quite simply uncomfortable. My M9 has two different Luigi Crescenzi cases. But I would never use a leather strap. The simple type can break unless you check it regularly and care for the leather.
