earleygallery Posted August 9, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 9, 2011 Looking to buy a Summilux 50mm. I've got the money - why must I wait for between 6 to 12 months. It's just crazy? Because there are far too many people just like you, and Leica can't make enough lenses for you all at once.
kdriceman Posted August 9, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 9, 2011 It's the law: Supply and demand. Of course, according to this law... If you have enough money, you can get one. Somewhere.
andybarton Posted August 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 9, 2011 The law is probably right.
Keith (M) Posted August 9, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 9, 2011 The law is probably right. At the moment, the Law seems to be somewhat ineffectual... (in the UK, anyway).
andybarton Posted August 9, 2011 Share #6 Posted August 9, 2011 Try driving at 90 on the M74 and see how ineffectual it is...
rea1412 Posted August 9, 2011 Share #7 Posted August 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just place your order (coz you won't regret it. It really is one terrific lens)... then wait and cross your fingers . You might get lucky as I did. I was prepared to wait for months for this lens... (4 months at least, I was told by my dealer) but I got mine in less than 3 weeks. I am very lucky indeed . Good luck!
kdriceman Posted August 9, 2011 Share #8 Posted August 9, 2011 There are frequently scalpers offering 'new' Summilux 50's on auction sites. But, of course, they too are familiar with the law!
earleygallery Posted August 9, 2011 Share #9 Posted August 9, 2011 Try driving at 90 on the M74 and see how ineffectual it is... Quite right, don't you realise you could kill a rioter at that speed!!
djdstone Posted August 9, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted August 9, 2011 Maybe I could convince UK based Leica forum members to riot in the West End near a certain shop? Wouldn't have to wait then :-). I will not be resorting to this of course - just phoning up all the UK dealers to see who comes up with the goods first and then crossing my fingers and hoping. djdstone Posted August 9, 2011 Author Share #11 Posted August 9, 2011 Out on interest - which UK based dealers would people recommend - or Europe based for that matter?

My advice is to build a good relationship with your chosen Leica dealer. Place a firm order and your requirement will be taken seriously.
rea1412 Posted August 9, 2011 Share #13 Posted August 9, 2011 Can't agree more with David above. I got mine from FotoZoom, Cremona (Italy).
Leica newbie Posted August 9, 2011 Share #14 Posted August 9, 2011 I'd say that STEPHENS PREMIER of Manchester are very good to deal with.
