Moggele Posted August 3, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 3, 2011 There were lenses without function for demo use. Could this be one of them?

UliWer Posted August 3, 2011 Share #7 Posted August 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Are you sure that the serial number is not on the othet side of the lens? It is not always on the front lens side; there are variants.

jc_braconi Posted August 3, 2011 Share #9 Posted August 3, 2011 I have one like this it was a "dummy" lens for a while before it was re "activated".
Val Posted August 3, 2011 Share #10 Posted August 3, 2011 Could be a demo. I saw one in Toronto at one dealer. Turn it around and look under the aperture ring , the part facing the body of the camera. Some 35 lenses in the past were engraved there. Small tiny numbers that are hard to see. TheNaive Posted August 4, 2011 Author Share #11 Posted August 4, 2011 I have one like this it was a "dummy" lens for a while before it was re "activated". What do you mean by re "activated"? Could you please give me more detail about it? From what I know, dummy lens can not be use as a real one. Because the optics inside is not the real one. So did someone or Leica change its optics to the real ones? One more things, what is your opinion if Iwant to buy this one? Thank you

Sorry about the question. What I meant was, who changed its optics? Did someone (not in Leica) or (someone in) Leica change its optics? Is this lens collectable? Yes, I can try it before buying it. Actually I already tried it, it work fine. Thank you very much
jc_braconi Posted August 5, 2011 Share #14 Posted August 5, 2011 Sorry about the question. What I meant was, who changed its optics? Did someone (not in Leica) or (someone in) Leica change its optics? Is this lens collectable? As I wrote in previous thread I suppose that only some Leica employee made the work. Collectable ? IMHO , no. User ? absolutly yes.
