abrewer Posted February 10, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I dropped, and lost, the little flat rubber cover that fits on my 12526 plastic hood for the 35 'Cron ASPH while in Daytona last week. Anybody got any ideas where I can get another? Cheap? Thanks. Allan

imported_peter_m Posted February 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2007 Bummer...... I am sure Leica will have them, but might not be cheap. Check all your pockets, bags...... I "lost" the lens hood cover on my LC1 a few times in a pocket, other camera bag... wrong coat pocket...LOL Peter

xjr Posted February 10, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 10, 2007 You lost one ? ! I already lost 3 ! and bought 2 i.e. one as a reserve ! The design is so pathetic that if you don't loose it that means you are not using the lense ! Any main LEICA dealer will stock them. The code number is 14043. erl Posted February 10, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 10, 2007 Yeah! I've lost a few of them. Damned expensive to replace. Then I lost the lens. After searching the net for a 2nd hand replacement, I found a good one. The week it arrived I found the original lens in another bag. Such is life. Be grateful you only lost the cover. abrewer Posted February 10, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted February 10, 2007 Here's a useful link I found while searching online for a replacement, from Dr. Puts of course: Erwin Puts Lens, Hood, Cover & Filter Chart William, it looks like the price has gone up! $29.95 is what the big NY stores are quoting now. Sheesh!!! Thanks. Allan
lambroving Posted February 11, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 11, 2007 William, it looks like the price has gone up! $29.95 is what the big NY stores are quoting now. Sheesh!!! Allan, Five bucks more seems modest. Did you check out the price of your lens these days? Knowing you as I do, I guess not. You'd need CPR... Don't you know the US$ is worthless lately? stunsworth Posted February 11, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 11, 2007 It's more or less the same price in the UK - £13 - not helped as William says by the fact that the dollar's gone down the pan.
cardinal Posted February 11, 2007 Share #11 Posted February 11, 2007 Allan, KEH has one for $21.00 in EX condition.
Guest xxl-user Posted February 11, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 11, 2007 since i have bought my 35 cron asph. this little rubber cover is sleeping in the box. i think the hood is enough protection for the lens. arnold
Michael-IIIf Posted February 11, 2007 Share #13 Posted February 11, 2007 You lost the lens? The whole thing?...... I thought I was bad: I've managed to lose the UV filter off my 35 'Cron. How I managed that and still kept the lens cap is a total mystery to me. I drop the lens cap on the ground at least once every outing. This is a pathetic design for some one as august as Leica. The fifty year old metal caps on my 5 cm and 9 cm Elmars are still hanging in there okay. Why can't Leica produce that quality any more? bill Posted May 31, 2007 Share #18 Posted May 31, 2007 I once dropped the one off my 35mm Summicron into the sea. I was sitting on some rocks on a beach in Cornwall at the time. I sat there for another ten minutes watching the damn thing wash backwards and forwards until it was close enough to grab 'cos I was too tight-fisted to abandon it... gyoung Posted June 6, 2007 Share #19 Posted June 6, 2007 eBay: Leica 12585 H Hood fit Summicron 35mm 50mm on M3/M6/M4 (item 110132587488 end time Jun-07-07 19:19:54 PDT) The literature for the Titanium version of the aspheric 35 Summicron shows a hood similar to but shallower than the 12585 H, does anyone know what the code for this is? Presumably it would only be available in the Titanium finish. Gerry Young

Presumably it would only be available in the Titanium finish. FWIW I have the black paint version of the 35/F2 ASPH and it came with the circular vented hood (in black paint). The code on this hood is 12452. I'm not keen on it and swapped it for the regular plastic hood (12526).
