You lost one ? ! I already lost 3 ! and bought 2 i.e. one as a reserve ! The design is so pathetic that if you don't loose it that means you are not using the lense ! Any main LEICA dealer will stock them. The code number is 14043.

Yeah! I've lost a few of them. Damned expensive to replace. Then I lost the lens.

After searching the net for a 2nd hand replacement, I found a good one. The week it arrived I found the original lens in another bag.:D

Such is life.

Be grateful you only lost the cover.;)

William, it looks like the price has gone up! $29.95 is what the big NY stores are quoting now. Sheesh!!! :)

Allan,

Five bucks more seems modest. Did you check out the price of your lens these days? Knowing you as I do, I guess not. You'd need CPR... :D

Don't you know the US$ is worthless lately?

I thought I was bad: I've managed to lose the UV filter off my 35 'Cron. How I managed that and still kept the lens cap is a total mystery to me.

I drop the lens cap on the ground at least once every outing. This is a pathetic design for some one as august as Leica. The fifty year old metal caps on my 5 cm and 9 cm Elmars are still hanging in there okay.

Why can't Leica produce that quality any more? :(

  • 3 months later...

I once dropped the one off my 35mm Summicron into the sea. I was sitting on some rocks on a beach in Cornwall at the time. I sat there for another ten minutes watching the damn thing wash backwards and forwards until it was close enough to grab 'cos I was too tight-fisted to abandon it...

Regards,

Bill

The literature for the Titanium version of the aspheric 35 Summicron shows a hood similar to but shallower than the 12585 H, does anyone know what the code for this is? Presumably it would only be available in the Titanium finish.

FWIW I have the black paint version of the 35/F2 ASPH and it came with the circular vented hood (in black paint). The code on this hood is 12452. I'm not keen on it and swapped it for the regular plastic hood (12526).
