I do not need a 90mm lens, I do not need a 90mm lens, I do not need a 90mm lens...

.

LOL

I really worried myself recently

I started saying that about a Noctilux

Luckily I was distracted by something major at the time ....

Like you, OP, I had the Cron APO, and tired of its size (but not performance). I ended up finding a mint Elmarit, and have never looked back. Have to say I am very pleased with the sharpness and subject isolation, as well as the weight of this lens. I also have a 90 TE (thin, in excellent shape), and if it is bright out, I tend to take it.

Other may differ, but by f8 most are hard to tell apart in the center (at one point I had all three and did a number of comparisons)- of course, we often use Leica glass to use it wide open :D

Wow, thank you all for contributing with your opinions! I have read all your links, and there certainly was an abundance of good material to read through.

From what I see, in my case both the Summarit and Elmarit would do nicely. The Summarit seems to be more compact, which is a huge plus in my book. I'm sure both have a potential that far passes my abilities to take advantage of them.

So, the search begins... :)

Not just the first image - well worth reading and admiring the whole article + all the images. Stunning work!

To be repeated until GAS subsides.

Oh dear, you haven't yet realised. With GAS, repeating a mantra reinforces its opposite. Probably too late now, I'm afraid.
