Lens holder?

The problem I have found with the standard grey plastic coupler is that it is frequently not deep enough. Better to buy two standard end caps and glue them together.

How do you ensure that they don't come apart at an inopportune moment?

Now, before I start, I have done some searching and failed to come up with an

answer so please be kind ;)

The lenses of my M2 that are not attached to the camera are held together by a

plastic holder/connector. They attach to it in the same way as they attach to the

camera body ie insert and twist clockwise until it cannot be twisted any further.

Here ya go.

Enjoy!

Can you not still buy them new? I bought some only a few years ago from a Leica dealer. I stick two together to ensure enough separation for those lenses with a substantial rear projection.

Make yourself a really good one: plastic sucks.

Buy two metal M rear caps now on eBay for 10-12 bucks each.

Sand the rears with 100 grit sandpaper.

Glue them together with an epoxy paste like JB Weld or PC7

If you have a little clamp that would help while it dries…or use something

heavy on top.

Anything that oozes out can be cleaned of while ‘’wet’’ with lacquer thinner.

For extra security a small, short machine screw and nut in the middle.

Strong and pretty aluminum!

Important: if one of the lenses you plan to use has a rear element very

close to the rear…. the screw is optional: but I am talking about using

a small short screw.

What Washington said.

The metal ones are available from Heavystar through that online auction site or directly from his website. He also sells the deeper ones for 28 and 21 mm lenses. I use both types and they're excellent.

Pete.
