Hi,

Will van Manen (Kamera-Service - Netherlands) modified the Elmarit R 90mm f/2.8, I bought, so I can mount it on my Nikon D700.

Thanks to Andy Barton for his list of Leica specialists!

I post a photo of the mounted lens (taken with DLux 4), and two pictures taken with the Elemarit 90mm f/2.8 mounted on the Nikon D700.

Your comments are welcome. Thank you.

I have a 90 Summicron-R that I Leitax-mounted myself. No problem focusing with that. I find I can generally focus down to f4 or f5.6 depending upon how much light there is. The focus assist spot helps, of course (I just wish it had an audible signal, too)

Thank you Andy,

I must practice more with this lens and use the focus assist spot, even if I feel that watching at the green dot distracts me from seeing to what is happening in the viewfinder.

I appreciated your help.

Best regards.

Francois

P.S. : I visited your page, but I found it difficult to determine which images were taken with the Nikon D700 - Elmarit R 90mm f/2.8 combo. Any suggestion?

Andy,

Thank you.

I, obviously made confusion; it was a 90 Summicron R and not an Elmarit.

I remember seeing in LUF some of your beautiful pictures of Scottish landscapes; I tought they were taken with a Nikon D700 + Leica R medium tele.

In any case, no matter what the camera or lens you used, there were some fantastic photo.

With regards.

Lovely shots Francois,

I think this lens is a gem that merits more celebration. I have one, which I've used mostly for portraits with my Canon DSLR. I will probably be selling it since I just purchased the 100mm Emarit APO Macro, and waiting for delivery.

Here are a few shots from Cuba previously posted on the Leica User Forum, and a close-up face shot I did here in California. BTW, I also have Zeiss lenses with "Focus Confirm" but I find this feature unreliable, so I am learning to trust my own eye when focusing. I focus wide open, then close down the aperture if need be.

Thank you for your kind comments Wilfredo.

I will use more often my Elmarit 90mm in order to get used with the focusing.

Your three pictures are great. I like very much the portrait and the books; my wife Patricia the dog!

Kind regards.

Hai @FrancoisF

Do you have infinity focus with the lens mounted on D700? Maybe it's because the post is old but I can't find any shots taken with your 90mm modified for Nikon, except 4-5 with flowers, that can't help me understand if the lens works without focus problems like M42 mounts.

I found one lens and today I started documenting on the image quality and if the adapting cans be done in such a way that the lens can be used without any problems
