The rubber ring is not normally a problem, but it can get snagged on the lip of a camera bag etc that rips it off. I'm not sure how else they are going to fit a rubber ring to a metal body other than the way it is done. Â But the the words dismal and Leica do come into play with Leica UK. I waited for response for four weeks to phone and emails before getting in touch with Solms, who responded in 24hrs and the part was with me in a couple of days. microview Posted July 30, 2011 Share #9  Posted July 30, 2011 Yes – beware of unscrewing: I went to London's best dealer recently (Southampton Row!) as I thought maybe diopter would be better solution than costly Leica magnifier I had fitted. When we tried to unscrew the item it literally fell to bits on the counter and some parts shot on to the floor. After some time it was patiently reassembled for me; I bought the relevant diopter.
