Hank Taylor Posted July 1, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted July 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just lucky to catch a glance of a young lynx when I was up in Arrowhead . Usually they are very difficult to see , and harder to capture a picture. Had only a 90mm on my M9. which makes it that much harder. Â Hank

allamande Posted July 2, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted July 2, 2011 Hank, Â This is really superb! Great job all around. We have some sightings on campus from time to time and I know how hard it is to capture an image like this. They are such magnificent creatures. pauledell Posted July 2, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted July 2, 2011 Hank, Â An excellent capture with that lens. I'm sure you cropped it quite a bit. The image held up quite well. Â Paul

Bob Jackson Posted July 2, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted July 2, 2011 Nice mature male Bobcat. When you saw this guy, there was more than likely another one close by; maybe mom and the kids, because he's standing his ground. If he were by himself, he would have been long gone. I grew up with these guys in my backyard, literally. I use to catch them sleeping in the trees on the back part of our property. Very cool cats, and a very cool shot. Hank Taylor Posted July 2, 2011 Author Share #10  Posted July 2, 2011 Thanks for your comments, Its interesting to know that these wonderful cats are adjusting to man's encroachment. Here is a little info from National Geographic  Bobcats, sometimes called wildcats, are roughly twice as big as the average housecat. They have long legs, large paws, and tufted ears similar to those of their larger relative, the Canada lynx. Most bobcats are brown or brownish red with a white underbelly and short, black-tipped tail. The cat is named for its tail, which appears to be cut or "bobbed."  Hank

Hank Taylor Posted July 4, 2011 Author Share #12 Â Posted July 4, 2011 Just found 2 more shots of this cat as he was about to leave me. The last one give you a lock at his bob tail. Â Hank
Hank Taylor Posted July 4, 2011 Author Share #13 Â Posted July 4, 2011 :confused:After looking at this cat closely it's appears not to be the same cat. Therefore as was pointed out in this thread by Bob, the male will stay around ,if there is a female and one with her young. Â Hank

drdannn Posted August 22, 2011 Share #16 Â Posted August 22, 2011 I like your second photograph ( cropped version ). Really like the schrubs in the foreground and background with the cat in between. I like that you did not "dodge" ( lighten ) the cat as it adds contrast to the overall photo. You were in the right place at the right time. Very good.
