Hi everyone,

I have tried searching the posts on the Visoflex 111 but have found no discussions on the possibility of taking the glass off both the eypiece and the body for cleaning. It looks staight forward !! They are held on by 4 screws and it looks easy, or does the whole thing just fall to bits and springs and washers fly every where?

Can anyone give me guidance or detailed instructions?

Cheers

John.

There are a number of threads on the subject. The pentaprism housing is very easy and straightforward, the Viso body is better done in a shoebox as two little springs, hats and bearing balls will fall out. Not a problem, as, if reassembled upside down, it is uncomplicated to put together again. Note the screen frame is located by two friction pins and may have to be levered off. One screw is shorter than the other three, note the location.

Agree with above.

Add cleaning the screen bottom is very easy. Getting it to dry without severe drying streaks is difficult.

Distilled water does not work. Compressed air marginally helpful. Unfortunately I do not remember my solution.

I do keep mine capped when not in use.

jappv, upon assembly I use a wee bit of grease on the bottom and top of the spring

to retain the spring in the hole and hold the ball at the top. To remove and replace

the prism the filler on the top has to be removed from the the hole above the prism downward retaining screw....

the screw is backed out to loosen the prism from the lower slide-out bottom plate.

After cleaning, the prism is put back into place and the lower retainng

plate slid back in. Then the upper screw is tightened to secure the prism to the lower

mount. The hole above the screw can then be filled with a wee bit of black silicone

and wiped even and smooth.

The screen is easy… no magic. It’s glass, thank heavens, those plastic things are almost

impossible. Just put a few drops of dish-washing detergent top and bottom.. and, with clean

hands rub it gently about both surfaces with your fingers…. then really rinse well under

the tap ….. blot semi-dry with a good paper towel (Bounty is the best by the way) and let air dry completely. It’ll be clean. If, however there are any signs of streaks, lightly polish with a

micro cleaning cloth…. a little breath on it helps.

Hi Jaap, I know it's an old thread but I can't seem to find anywhere the correct process for disassembling the Viso III.

I have removed the upper 4 screws but the whole assembly still seems to stay in place and doesn't move.

I don't want to force it and bend it so I am asking if there's a way to remove the screen after loosing the 4 screws.

Does it have to slide in some ways?

I need to clean it from the inside as it is dirt and probably was never serviced.

Thanks,

Emanuele

Phew!  that long ago… I can only go by the advice in the ancient post about levering off. But I honestly don’t recall.

Thanks Jaap. Oh well, i hope someone can chime in and help. There's not much documentation about servicing the Visoflex.
