hsw Posted February 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The light in our gym really sucks (dim Fluoro). Was not able to get anything worthwhile with D70s and 70-200 f2.8 ED glass @ ISO 1600. I think this shot is probably usable once converted to B&W; what do you think? Advertisement Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Hi hsw, Take a look here M8 @ Iso2500. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted February 7, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2007 henry - Definitely more than "usable". Very nice sharpness, bokeh, tones and catch.
abrewer Posted February 7, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 7, 2007 Nice shot. Something for the archives to save for when your son is older and (hopefully) lighting up the NCAA tournament! Thanks. Allan
hsw Posted February 7, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted February 7, 2007 Thanks guys; not my son. Mine are girls. Their game was over (they Killed!); Dad late AGAIN! But I'm trying to get the right set-up to keep a record of their high school sports. Looks like I'll sell the Nikon and just use my M8! Cheers, Henry
abrewer Posted February 7, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 7, 2007 Thanks guys; not my son. Mine are girls. Oops! Sorry, Henry! They do play women's basketball in the tourney, too, and IU is always interested in young talent!!! Good luck. Thanks. Allan
steed Posted February 9, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 9, 2007 nice photo. The young man shooting, however, needs to keep his shooting elbow tucked in, and to use his off hand only to keep the ball stationary through his stroke. Pass it along..I hate bad form! miami91 Posted February 9, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice! Was it excessive noise at ISO 2500 or color fidelity that caused you to convert to B/W? Mind you, I prefer B/W in almost all cases, I'm just curious. Jeff. abrewer Posted February 9, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 9, 2007 ... shooting elbow tucked in, and to use his off hand only to keep the ball stationary ... Excellent note and absolutely correct...in addition to squaring up to the basket and releasing at jump's apex. Thanks. Allan

hsw Posted February 10, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted February 10, 2007 These kids in the picture are the "postgame wanna-be's" so I don't know if anyone's coaching them! Jeff, it was the noise that made me do the conversion. Haven't purchased Neat Image yet so the noise just looks better to me as "film grain". Dave, I agree. I was a footballer and tried to get my girls on the pitch since they were out of diapers. Neither one gives a rat's @ss about soccer; they love the hoops. I know little or nothing about basketball! Cheers all, Henry
Peter41951 Posted February 10, 2007 Share #11 Posted February 10, 2007 Impressive performance at 2500ASA and a nice photo, though "Clemson" seems to be on his mobile.....
