M. Valdemar Posted June 26, 2011 Share #2  Posted June 26, 2011 That's a mighty fancy M9 what with the "black dot", the Corinthian Leather case, the tricked out lens hood, etc.  Does it take photos too or is it just ornamental? I removed the white in the M9 logo and ordered the black Leica dot so that it doesn't directly stand out as an expensive Leica. The case is a Luigi case that I had with my M8. gravastar Posted June 27, 2011 Share #12 Â Posted June 27, 2011 looks nice, very classy, how did you remove the white from the m9? Some of mine fell out so I decided to complete the denudation with a pointed matchstick . Â Â Bob.
segedi Posted June 27, 2011 Share #13 Â Posted June 27, 2011 Great purchase. I'm still a couple of years out(have reunited with my first love--film recently) from getting a digital M. Â Nice Luigi case, he does great work. But I don't think it makes the expensive camera more stealth.
platel Posted June 27, 2011 Author Share #14 Â Posted June 27, 2011 looks nice, very classy, how did you remove the white from the m9? Softly pushing on the white paint made it kind of 'pop out'. It was really easy to remove.
dwbell Posted June 27, 2011 Share #15 Â Posted June 27, 2011 She's a beauty, congratulations. Nice lens too. Â Like the lighting and comp on the shot, top plate get's a little lost in the b/g perhaps? Â Enjoy!

davehendley Posted June 27, 2011 Share #17  Posted June 27, 2011 I bought an M9 last Friday. The white paint M9 started to come off over the weekend so I just removed the rest with a bit of gaffa tape and some very gentle prodding with a cocktail stick. Must say that it's much more pleasing with the hollowed-out look so I'll probably leave it like that.  I have a black dot from DAG Cameras ready to install but I was told by customer care that this would invalidate my warranty and that the camera would have to go to Germany for this to be done - This service costs £50.  Also, I must say that John Murphy and the staff at Leica Mayfair provide at level of friendly and courteous service that is nowadays all to rare. Â So contact Leica and ask them to send you a red dot - they'll supply one for free. When it arrives put it in a drawer. If you need to send the camera back under warranty, remove the black dot and fit the red one. Â I'm still surprised that Leica said it would invalidate your warranty. Um... all my cameras have black dots. Not only does it not invalidate my warranty, but CS Solms takes great care to stick them on again when the have to remove them.
