It should be here tomorrow (June 16, 2011). This is something completely new for me as I'm basically a Nikon full-frame user (D700 and FE2). My use for the DLUX 5 is more or less for a light weight candid street rangefinder. I ordered the Panasonic EVF to use with it. I would suggest avoiding program exposure using aperture priority or manual (especially for outdoor fill-flash), exactly as you would with your Nikon equipment. I try not to use the flash, not because its naff but simply to use to available light. I use P, I find changing settings on LCD too fiddly. Watch focus at close distances. Flash is OK but harsh and too direct (try dimming it a bit with a cloth). I plan to give the DLUX 5 it's first real workout at a major indigenous fiesta in Nahuala, Guatemala late November of 2011. Probably I'm lacking a little common sense traveling there in the first place as Guatemala, and especially 3rd class (chicken bus) travel is a little iffy these days. I'm really going to have to be very discrete - no giant dSLR's with mega lenses that attract lots of attention, no Lowe Pro mega backpacks, either - all that stuff stays home. Just a jacket with some inside pockets. This is why I purchased the DLUX 5. I'll have a local person from the community with me as a guide. My goal is ethnographic documentation of traditional Mayan Highland culture. And I'm really looking forward to using the DLUX 5 - already it feels liberating not to be hauling around the heavy backpack. Gene Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
