skinner Posted June 13, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 13, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I wanted to capture the flower of the ubiquitous Frangipani tree in Bali. Please free free to comment and critique. Best wishes Steve
Advertisement Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Hi skinner, Take a look here Frangipani. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
k-hawinkler Posted June 13, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2011 Steve, A truly stunning simple image. May I ask, how did you create it, especially the fore- and back-ground? Thanks, K-H.
skinner Posted June 13, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted June 13, 2011 Many thanks for your kind words K-H, we were lucky enough to have a pool in our villa that overlooked the Indian Ocean and towering over the pool was the Frangipani tree. There was a constant daily supply of flowers dropping from the tree so i got as low as I could to the water to capture the horizon of the pool and the ocean. Wish I was was back there right now Thanks again Steve
k-hawinkler Posted June 13, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 13, 2011 Steve, Thanks. Looks like a very inviting place. The foreground indicated water to me. What was the shutter speed? Thanks again, K-H.

MarkP Posted June 13, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 13, 2011 Steve, what an extraordinary photograph! Composition and colours are gorgeous. The water looks so......fluid! If you don't mind my suggestion, can you get any more detail in the petal highlights? Mark

skinner Posted June 14, 2011 Author Share #12 Posted June 14, 2011 Mark, sorry, I've only just seen your question, must have been an edit after your original post unless I just plain missed it? I did look to recover some of the clipped highlights but it just didn't look right, beyond my PP skill level I'm afraid. Would much prefer to have to the exposure a bit better first in the shot though but it was a trade off between a really bright day and getting the foreground/background to bond together? Thanks again Steve
drdannn Posted August 22, 2011 Share #13 Posted August 22, 2011 In addition to what everyone else said.... print it, frame it, and hang it. It is a winner !
