Washington Posted June 8, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) After using it Sunday shooting Elk up in Rocky Mountain National Park I found the shoulder stock not tight enough with a knob and screw tight as I could make it on the handle mounting stud. I use the tripod with some drag on the rotating axis so I can follow an animal and still have a steady mount…. but using the shoulder stock for movement the shoulder stock would slip and rotate too. For some reason the bottom mount for the stock had a blind hole tapped 1/4x20 running in at an angle in it’s front. So, I drilled it through and tapped it completely through, Mounted the stock and used the tapped hole as a guide to drill a wee bit into the handle. Now with a cup point stainless set screw fully home it is now unmovable. I also added a longer dovetail mount to the bottom of the rugged lens bottom plate. Boy, is this SOLID now! Washington Posted June 8, 2011 Author Share #2 Posted June 8, 2011 By the way… could someone tell me what size drop-in rear filter this lens accepts? Thanks much, Cheers.
jaapv Posted June 8, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 8, 2011 Serie VII, at least for the 6.8. The 5.6 may be the same but I would have to look it up.

Washington Posted June 8, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted June 8, 2011 Thank you once more: I had the feeling you would know. A bit off this subject I just got a return eMail from Noviflex saying they no longer supply the VISO or KABEL-C. Humph…. snobs! They must only make them available to European Profesional folks. Washington Posted June 8, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted June 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Which makes me wonder where B&H got theirs? (If it is indeed the right adapter despite the part #)

Robert_M Posted June 8, 2011 Share #9 Posted June 8, 2011 I suspect that many of the adapters Novoflex list on-line as available for their follow focus lenses are just old stock that is still there. For example, LEA-R (Leica R) and CANA (Canon FD), OMA (Olympus), COA (42mm thread), etc are listed. I can't imagine that there is a new camera demand for those out of production camera mounts. As for the B&H: I can't wait to hear if it comes through. Again, it may be old stock from some supplier. RM
Washington Posted June 8, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted June 8, 2011 Quite possibly! I’ll know when it gets here…. I doubt another manufacturer would bother faking a logo or box…. but, who knows? There could be a seller of N.O.S. Novoflex stuff somewhere.

Washington Posted June 8, 2011 Author Share #12 Posted June 8, 2011 Todays chore is to go out and get some nice stainless allen-keyd dome head screws to hold that dovetail tripod mount…. must be tidy y’know?
veraikon Posted June 8, 2011 Share #13 Posted June 8, 2011 I suspect that many of the adapters Novoflex list on-line as available for their follow focus lenses are just old stock that is still there. There is , Novoflex uses these mounts also for different systems not only for the tele lenses, Baluni (bellows), MF adapters...
Robert_M Posted June 9, 2011 Share #14 Posted June 9, 2011 Yes, I know that the Novoflex adapters listed on their site are for the current bellows in addition to the discontinued follow focus system. And many of those adapters are obviously new system standards (micro 43 system for example). My point was that there are many available which are for discontinued, mostly film mounts. Those are the ones I cited in my post. I just can't image there is much demand from new camera users of a Canon FD mount (CANA adapter for example). Those adapters are surely old stock. And yes, I expect Novoflex are sure to keep up their stock of NIKA (nikon) and Canon EOS adapters. I still contend that there must be old stock on many of those adapters and no demand, which is why they are still there. Unfortunately, we Visoflex users are in a difficult situation. It is an old abandoned standard by Leica. However, there seems to be a revival of use - just look at the 100% or more increase in price of Visoflex items on ebay in recent years. Too bad firms like Novoflex don't respond to the demand. But certainly the retailers know this! Look at the prices of these adapters. VISA (the visoflex adapter) is on-line at B&H, a discount retailer (the only place), for $US 160, whereas the comparable Novoflex adapter for other cameras (NIKA, for example) is $100-110 and available at many shops. Can you really tell me this is logical for manufacture and not just supply vrs demand? Can't wait to here how Rip gets along with the Novoflex C..... I'm envious. Washington Posted June 9, 2011 Author Share #15 Posted June 9, 2011 Robert, There IS a revival of use as M-9 owners get hip to using long lenses! As I have said before…. the eBay sellers are VERY aware of trends and popularity and raise prices accordingly…. supply and demand. So the only thing you can expect is that demand will drive prices even higher. What are you gonna do but swallow it or do without? So, in my opinion, if you need something get it NOW if you can: as it’s only going to disappear or get worse. As far as Novoflex is concerned; the market…. even though it is increasing…. is too small to tool up again for. (No money in it). Cheers!
Robert_M Posted June 9, 2011 Share #16 Posted June 9, 2011 Rip, Yes, I agree entirely. Except maybe your last statement. I'm sure Novoflex already has all the tooling. It is just a matter of making a run on those visoflex fitted items. And, that will only depend on dealer demand. But I'm not sure it is there.... Washington Posted June 9, 2011 Author Share #17 Posted June 9, 2011 Final clamp clamp-down. This baby is not going to move! It was taken with a Leica and a good ole Sunpak 333 with some sort of bounce front fill contraption. Honest… really…. I swear. Lots of dust up here…. as you can see. Washington Posted June 9, 2011 Author Share #18 Posted June 9, 2011 Oh, I am sure you are right. But, I mean ‘’tooling-up’’ as a term to see the chore as profitable…. sure they have the stuff and ability. Maybe if they realize there is a big enough market to produce: they will. The offside is along with that increased demand comes higher prices on used Viso and Novoflex equipment!
