Pinocchio Wood Posted June 6, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) My D2 is 5 years old. I thought it had seen light use but the actuation count is 17,000. Just how long will a camera like this last? I presume the shutter would fail first. But, perhaps other things may instead. Maybe sensors just wear out. Any thoughts? dpitt Posted June 7, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 7, 2011 Hi, welcome to the Digilux 2 fan club :cool:Others will probably confirm this. A D2 can go over 100.000 clicks. Don't worry about 17.000, and go out and enjoy your camera!
farnz Posted June 8, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 8, 2011 The batteries are likely to be the limiting factor. Fortunately the D2 uses the same battery as the Digilux 3 so there are 'newer' batteries available. But Li-Ion batteries have a finite service life, typically 3 to 5 years depending on how they're stored and used, so before too long we'll need to start investigating how to renovate or repackage D2 batteries in the same way as others have done with the DMR's batteries. Tietje Posted June 8, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2011 Then there's the availability of 2GB SD memory cards. Not many around in the shops these days.
