zsolt Posted May 29, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted May 29, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) M8 is sold at this time- I gave up simply, risking all the stones now flying over my head... A new X1 arrived. Amazing camera, amazing pictures, super simple, and straight forward logic. Slow? well compare it with M8 than . (meaning all the hassle to unpack, fiddle it with the RF pray for a sharp focus. New stones are coming....) Â I think so the whole thing is about how and why, and what do you really want as an outcome. According to me Leica did an excellent job, creating a cool camera which you are prepared to use anytime anywhere, and you carry it without any hassle. From my perspective, M8 stayed more and more at home, X1 is everywhere with me. Â On our last motorbike tour, I made 1800 pics with an iPhone and few with the M8. And my heart was bleeding. So this started to be a physiological pain and war. Take me right, I am a very old Leica fan, user and basically went through on many Leica Analogue & Digital path. My opinion is that X1 one is a perfect combination of a very nice traveling companion, with a brilliant output, and a true Leica feeling. I have got no problem with MF vs Autofocus. Just accept it as it is, and it works perfectly either way. Cheers Zsolt a happy amateur PS: be nice with me...

luigi bertolotti Posted May 29, 2011 Share #2  Posted May 29, 2011 M8 is sold at this time... PS: be nice with me...  Why not ? Clearly X1 is the right camera for you... and clearly Leica people were not so stupid when thought that such a camera could find its right market... I'm a happy M8 user, with no plans about X1... but what is good for me I do not pretend is the verb for anyone...

Paul Verrips Posted June 2, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted June 2, 2011 When you are having more fun taking photos with the X1, thats O.K. to me, there is still Leicablood running through your veins:D Â Personaly i like the slow way of working that IMHO belongs to the rangefinder, but i love the X1 (but just want one camera, i hate to choose). wda Posted June 2, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted June 2, 2011 zsolt, Welcome to X1 ownership! Your logic makes sense in your circumstances. (My rangefinder Ms are my first choice). But, there are very many occasions when the X1 reigns supreme. Travelling my motorcycle, as you describe, the X1 should be a highly competent companion. Furthermore, you have highlighted the need to master the basics, which should come easy with your background in photography. So much better than compromising with an iPhone! abrewer Posted June 4, 2011 Share #6  Posted June 4, 2011 Second what David says  The more I use it the greater appreciation I have for the actual pictures it makes  Very analogue-looking, some X1 images converted from RAW that look like a nice film image   Welcome, dear visitor!
