Haworth Parsonage

Great to see all the North West of England members enjoying the good weather - Lake District, York, North Wales are all graced with our presence this weekend - some lovely pictures from you all!

I took myself off to Haworth yesterday. For those of you outside the UK who don't know it, this small village in the West Riding of Yorkshire was home to the Bronte family - Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell (Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Tennant of Wildfell Hall etc) in the nineteenth century. Their father was the vicar and they lived in the parsonage overlooking the crammed graveyard.

I have narrowed down a couple of images of the Parsonage from the graveyard that I like. Both have something of the sad and troubled atmosphere that their lives had but i don't know which angle I like best - any opinions gratefully received

Keith,

both good shots, but I prefer the second. The urn helps stop the eye at the right and the light gable-end offsets it nicely. Just goes to show how subjective this all is ;)

Thanks Peter and John,

Both perspecties are valid. As you say John a lot is down to personal taste. Having now seen them posted together I am inclining to no 2. I has more of the atmosphere I wanted.

Best Wishes

Light, framing and tones are more pleasing to the eye in your 2nd image Keith. The only thing i would do is a small crop from below till at least half of the 1st stepped stone base. A nicer balance IMHO.
