edmond_terakopian Posted May 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings Folks, I'll be in NY for a couple of days and was wondering if there's a Leica dealer that is a definite not to be missed type of place; somewhere with loads of interesting bits and pieces etc... Cheers, Edmond
Advertisement Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Hi edmond_terakopian, Take a look here Leica in NY, NY. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
M. Valdemar Posted May 13, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 13, 2011 There's the Leica Gallery in Manhattan, on Lower Broadway. It's right near Chinatown and you can walk downtown for 10 minutes and have a good lunch when you finish looking. There's usually something somewhat interesting on display. On the same floor, there is a Leica dealer. Leica Camera AG - Culture - Gallery New York You might want to go to Adorama camera store. They usually have a reasonable stock of Leica stuff. Digital cameras, all other cameras and everything photographic from Adorama Camera Unfortunately, the days of the many enormous, well-stocked used camera stores on Camera Row is in the past. The internet killed them off. Nothing remains. There used to be "camera fairs" in Manhattan which were huge swap meets with hundreds of dealers. These are also dead for the most part. There hasn't been one in years.
stuny Posted May 13, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 13, 2011 Edmond - Sadly it has become rather hit or miss, but do not overlook Kurland (Kurland Photo), Photo Village (The Photo Village), and B&H (B&H Photo Video Digital Cameras, Photography, Camcorders). If both our schedules permit, perhaps we can meet. stuart.nordheimer@opco.com.
james.liam Posted May 13, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 13, 2011 Photo Village and Kurland are small showrooms and may have some more esoteric or hard-to-find items. B&H and Adorama are quite large operations with extensive inventories of used Leica bodies, lenses and other related items. If there's something specifically you're looking for you might check all their websites for what's available before dropping by. I happened to visit Kurland Photo today (wonderfully helpful and informed folks) and their inventory of used M equipment was very thin.

sblitz Posted May 13, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 13, 2011 the above suggestions, especially kurland and the leica gallery (they are next to each other(. willoughbys on 5th avenue and 32nd st is an official leica shop, as you will see, and they often have more stock than anyone else -- much of it not listed on line. b and h is probably the most fun place to go simply because of its size, although its leica stock is somewhat limited. b and h and adorama are closed on saturday and close early on friday to observe the sabbath. enjoy your visit, a great town to take pictures in. Ronazle Posted May 14, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 14, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) While involving a side trip to adjacent Connecticut, you might consider making an appointment to visit Tamarkins. He may have the largest stock of Leica stuff around, and he will not sell defective cameras/accessories. Stan Tamarkin may be trusted. Enjoy your trip, ron:)
