pgeobc Posted May 10, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted May 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone out there have any information on using the Leica Digiscope adapter with a Nikon ED scope? Leica states that the physical dimensions of the adapter are made to be compatible with the wide eypeice for the scope. Could this be used with a standard variable eyepeice for the Nikon? Â If the consensus is that the above will not work, how about a custom adapter? Could one be made that would work on a Nikon scope? Â TIA

pharyngula Posted May 13, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted May 13, 2011 I have the X1 adapter from Leica. The adapter is designed to fit the 25x-50x ASPH zoom, which is a wonderful optic. The adapter is not designed to attach to the scope itself, it fits on top of the zoom like a hat. It certainly won't mate to your Nikon scope and it probably won't fit over your eyepiece as intended for the Leica - it is critical that it seats and doesn't wiggle. There are a number of generic digiscope adapter solutions out there and sites devoted to digiscoping and related gear. I'd give those a try first.
