One more question as I awaite the deliver truck. How is the surface of the LCD screen holding up? Are most people using one of those screen protection covers, the self-adhesive type, like the oil change sticker in your car? Or does the screen hold up well to abuse? I don't mind a scuff here and there, but is it prone to scratches? I don't like the screen protectors since I can never get them cut perfectly and using an Exacto blade always introduces the possibility of scratching the camera with the blade.

Thanks!

The screen scratches easily, in my opinion, so I put the ScreenPatronous one on my camera. They are cut perfectly to size but becasue the screen protrudes a little, rather than being recessed like some, others have complained that they will catch on things and peel off. It hasn't happened to me yet but that doesn't mwan it won't.

I purchased a set of ScreenPatronus ones and had a problem with the edges catching on things. ScreenPatronus replaced them free of charge with a set that they cut to be 1/2mm smaller. A little tricky to apply since I had to try to get the 1/4mm border even all round.

So far it's remained on the camera with no problems at all. They're very tough.

Screen patronus is the best! They are beautifully made and very resistant!

I strongly recommend them.

Furthermore, I was the first to contact them about making the extra small piece for the second LCD screen on the DMR. They did a great job but when the prototype was slightly too big, they immediately fixed it... no questions asked. Hence, when buying the covers for the DMR ask for BOTH LCD covers and just mention my name so that thye have the accurate size!

When ordering screenpatronus do you simply order the "Digital Camera Screen Protector" or do you order a custom size (or something else)?

ScreenPatronus, Screen protector - the difference is amazing. On the front page click on "Digital Camera" in the Category box. On the second page click on the Buy button. You'll then get forms with the purchase options including a request for the camera make and model. Their software seems to be able to recognise make and model since it's carried over to the confirmation page, sometimes in a slightly different format. I paid instantly with PayPal when I ordered mine.

I've lost two screenpatron protectors... :o They both lasted about an hour on the camera. The first time rolled up from a corner and eventually fell off. The other one I never even noticed it came off, I put it on and went out then just suddenly realized it wasn't there anymore. I've used these on other cameras, including the DMR, before, and it's only the M8 this seems to happen to me on.

Before Screenpatronus had M8-sized protectors, I bought a huge sheet from them and cut several with a template and an x-acto knife. Perfect fit.

I went through all of them in less than 2 weeks. The edges just don't hold to the screen strong enough.

I'm on the lookout for something more tenacious. If anyone has suggestions, let me know. The protector I have on my smartphone has been fantastic--made by Boxwave--but I don't think they make them as large as they need to be for the M8 screen.

On the advice of half the civilised world, I also ordered the Screen Patronus. I am planning on cleaning the LCD cover very carefully with mild detergent, to make absolutely sure that the sticker gets as much grip as possible. They already arrived, btw. I think there are 3 in the pack. If they are any good, I will probably order a kit for my iPod Video as well, and get some polishing cream. It always bothered me how scratched up that thing gets from sitting around in a lined pocket.

Thanks to your suggestions guys as I received my 3 pack from ScreenPatronus the other day. It is really custom fit and I followed their directions on application and can't even tell it's there. I'm now going to order the products for all my LCD's.
