delander † Posted May 2, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I dont know if this has been noted before but Aperture is now available for just £45 from the Apple Apps Store (not the the Apple Store). Seems like a great opportunity for Mac users to buy a top of the range RAW processor/photomanagement/photo-editing programme. I already have LR, PSCS5, C1, PSE so not sure I need another. Advertisement Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Hi delander †, Take a look here Aperture bargain. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
01af Posted May 2, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2011 Beware! When the Adobe Store offers an Adobe product at a bargain price then a few weeks later the next version thereof will be released. Maybe Apple is following the same strategy ...!?
delander † Posted May 2, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted May 2, 2011 Well maybe, but it is the latest version and the price is very attractive! Jeff
Robinyuill Posted May 2, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 2, 2011 Hi there. Seen this offer before and thought about it. The only caveat is that I think you have to upgrade to the latest operating system which is called Snow Leopard to then buy Aperture from App Store. Have held off as there were some cautions on mac talk rooms about the stability of the latest Snow Leopard but will get round to it at some point. Anyone actually done the upgrade yet with any results? Regards Robin.

Snow Leopard is now at its seventh upgrade, i e 10.6.7, so it is quite well established, and has been for at least a year, i should think. No problems at all. andybarton Posted May 2, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 2, 2011 Snow Leopard has been 100% stable for me and is a very cheap upgrade. The DVD contains a full version of the installer and does not require a copy of Leopard installed previously.

chmilar Posted May 2, 2011 Share #8 Posted May 2, 2011 It was noted when the Mac App Store premiered in January that the price for Aperture 3 was $79.99 USD, while the "boxed" Aperture 3 was $199 at Apple Stores, or if you added Aperture as a pre-installed option when purchasing a new Mac online from Apple. AFAIK, no one has offered a satisfactory explanation for the price discrepancy. The Mac App Store version is the full version, identical to the boxed one. The only difference is that the retail package gets you a optical disc to install from, and some printed material with license agreement, quick installation instructions, etc. (but not a printed user manual). Robinyuill Posted May 5, 2011 Share #10 Posted May 5, 2011 Hi there. Well I went to Apple store and bought Snow Leopard and then got Aperture 3 from the App Store. Seems all well so far but I have noticed that the computer is running hot when using new Aperture to process images. The mac talk shops are unclear on the subject, has anyone noticed this. Still to play around with Ap3 and find out if it's been worth the price. Regards to all. Robin.
