Telyt 560/Televit

I purchased this Televit with Telyt 560 last week, really to try what JC has done with his Telyt 280, but now I see myself looking for a 14138 so I can mount the 280.

I'm truly amazed with the first few shots with this lens, the serial # dates it to 1966, my 280 is 1969. The 560 had some spider web in the tube, but the lenses are pristine and the Televit works nicely. Like several I've read about, the button doesn't seem to do anything anymore, no lockup of the tube, most likely an old spring,

Here's a shot of the kit together pardon the iPhone photo and a couple of first shots with the 560, I only white balanced them. The "portrait" was at the close focusing distance limit, the parked car about 50 meters away.

If anyone has a spare 14138 willing to be let go,, let me know!!!:D

COMA, after having seen a picture of it, told me that he could do a COPY (I should have to send them my one for reference) for around 60 to 100 Euros : if some of you are interested, I could afford to part from my item (can live without it for a while... :D) and have them to make some...

re: 560.

I just finished a complete disassembly for a good cleaning and proper re-lube.

Concerning the lens holding mechanism my feeling is the under-button spring

is weak and I am looking for a stronger replacement. I think the plastic friction

material, due to age, is harder than need be… I am going to replace this with

a softer rubber…. I haven’t chosen exactly what compound and hardness as yet.

Adjusting the roller at the front of the lower brace is critical for smooth focus sliding.

Cheers.

Big difference! Now, the focusing slider works much better! Locks tighter.

I did not replace the friction pad… as it’s aways better to make one change at a time.

The spring change is easy…. remove the four screws in the ‘’button box’’ and simply

replace the stock spring in the hole in the back of the button. A little dap of silicone

sealer at the bottom of the button hole holds the spring in place, and, after drying, makes

fitting to lens tube easier.

The spring used is the following from: McMaster-Carr

Specifically: #9657K76,1 Pack, Steel Compression Spring, Music Wire,

1" L, 7/32" Od, .028" Wire Diameter.

The 1’’ spring will be snipped to length a bit longer than the stock spring so you

can heat a bit of the cut coil to bend it flat like the uncut side. A Dremel and stone

can further flatten the round end coil. Holding the very end coil over a candle will

heat it red fine!

As the springs come in little packages of ten I have plenty to play with.

I think I’m going to make another one somewhat longer for even more

pad pressure. As I said, as it is it: locks a hell-uv-a-lot better. But, it still

can move with pressure. The job is so damn easy, why not? Cheers.

Hope you don't mind. I have been taking some shots today with my outfit... I love it. Lets get more people using the Televit.

My 560…. slightly ‘’Frankenrigged’’.

Small change, BIG difference!

By tapping the 1/4’’x20 t.p.i. through to the inside on the shoulder rest…. and

now screwing in different strap mounts and connecting a really short strap to

the inside of the curve: the rig now holds itself high and just right for carrying

and use.

Yes, this one is indeed a Viso IIa in which I modified the linkage so the arm will

rise higher for use on the M-9. I like them because the arm travel is not as long

as the V-III. You can do it the easy way by using a V-III arm…. but the arm is

very tall and I don’t like how far I have to reach for it with my trigger finger when

using it without a cable. Cheers.

Another change. By removing four screws I found I could rotate the barrel 180 degrees

and have the focus adjuster useable by my better right hand. I’m real happy with this!
