Solar B Posted April 27, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Folks I was just wondering what people think about the Limited Edition Dig Leicas I have noticed quite a few of them up for sale recently ... i have to say that i know its only cosmetic but i like them , having seen a white M8.2 (in the flesh) i know its completely impractical but it looks fantastic ... others go a bit further such as the Titanium M9 ... one available on Ebay at the mo for £24K ... "Bargain" ... not so keen on the Titanium DL4 or the BMW,X1 but i do like the look of the DL4 Safari ... fforbes are selling one and have no less than 3... DL4 finders up for grabs , so what do others think , im on my second normal DL4 atm ,would i be mad to buy the Safari and sell the regular one ? , probably as i should really be saving for an M8 but then would have to sell my X1 to:o ... Bring me to my senses please. Still its all good fun... Foot note i have always been a Leica fan ... as i believe they offer something unique compared to other manufacturers , and i do try to differentiate myself from the multitude of Canon,s...and the Ltds certainly would do that. Advertisement Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Hi Solar B, Take a look here D-Lux 4 Safari , so-goodie , or not so-goodie. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted April 27, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2011 Brian, Obviously you don't need forum members' approval and my advice fwiw is that 'you come this way but once' and it's all too fleeting so you should go for what a part of you clearly wants to do and have no regrets! Forget resale value, forget what other people are using, work out what you want to do and carpe diem! Pete.
earleygallery Posted April 27, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 27, 2011 Personally I wouldn't sell a 'regular' Dlux to buy the same in Safari livery, after all it's just the colour of the camera that's different, the pictures will be the same, but if you are upgrading to another type of camera, such as an M8, then it's worth getting the version you really want. I like the white M8 too, it would be a great gimmick for a wedding photographer!
Solar B Posted April 27, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted April 27, 2011 Well Pete and James i think you,ve got the jist of the Thread...I.E. not too serious Im going of the idea now as i would be using the Safari with a Handgrip so not so in keeping with its looks ... i do like its chrome lens n cap though . The White M8 is something to behold ... if you were doing a wedding with one James then you would have to be dressed all in white to Brian
