larsv Posted July 5, 2013 Share #2422 Posted July 5, 2013 Another hint: the image is taken from a well known mountain pass named after a road engineer. The road was built by convicts. It runs through a "kloof" .

larsv Posted July 7, 2013 Share #2426 Posted July 7, 2013 Last try before giving up. Kloof means gorge. The pass was named after a road engineer. The son of the engineer became even more famous in SA as road engineer.

Guest Posted July 15, 2013 Share #2431 Posted July 15, 2013 ... Those houses look a little bit like container-ships. Are they built next to a harbour?
stuny Posted July 15, 2013 Share #2432 Posted July 15, 2013 Not containers. It is a residential area.

stuny Posted July 17, 2013 Share #2440 Posted July 17, 2013 Exactly right. This is from the park along Ocean Avenue that overlooks the Pacific Caost Highway (PCH), overpriced beach homes, the beach and the Pacific Ocean. The way the coast curves east in this general area means we are facing south rather than the expected west. During my first few business trips to Los Angeles my nornal excellent sense of direction would be thown off by having the ocean on the wrong side -- Even more confusing along this portion of the coast. Your turn.
