I had mentioned the country: Mali. The city presumably would be Timbuktu.

Photos in this thread should be from place you at least could jump down with a parachute (that actually could open during the jump ;) )

Novel idea.

Correct - Timbuktu. I was on a steamer going from Gao (also under threat now from Al Qaida) to Mopti.

I get your point, but the alternative was a very boring image of Bamako from my hotel room. I thought this was a nicer image, and a departure from European cities from aircraft or hotel rooms ...

Over to you.

This may be too easy at least for some of you. Name the city and the building.

Thanks, Andreas. Prague's new National Gallery was going to be built in a similar 'style' but, the idea was voted down.....

I will have to stop visiting this thread and responding - am slowly running out of 'form above' photos.

Nevertheless - where are we? City please.

Good luck,

Jan

Vancouver BC - at the bridge that crosses over to Granville Island ?

I did mention that was am running out of suitable 'from above' material.... Yes, it is my home town - False Creek with Granville Bridge and Granville Island. Had to remove the huge 'Granville Island Market' sign, otherwise it would have been too easy.

Over to you, Robert.

Cheers,

Jan

Jan,

Thanks. I spent a number of enjoyable vacations in, and around, False Creek back when my mother-in-law owned an apartment in the vicinity. It's good to see images of the area on LUF every now and then.

Like you, I'm starting to run out of images suitable for this thread. While maybe a bit of a stretch, here's the next one.

We're looking for the name of either the body of water shown or the shoreline visible in the distance.

Michael - this location is at a latitude about 7-1/2 degrees south of Venice, but not in the same hemisphere.

Robert

(PS - Michael, I assume you are referring to the Venice in Italy, not one of the later copycat versions.)
