PBatemanJ Posted May 7, 2011 Share #41 Posted May 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have used M8 for two years and my favorite lens is Summilux 35mm ASPH for street and documentary work. This lens is pricy, but worth for image quality and fast f1.4 in dark situation because of weak ISO capability of M8. Second is Summicron 50mm for closed shot like portraits. I might like Summilux 50mm, too. I have/had Summicron 35mm ASPH and Elmarit 28mm ASPH but I am not a big fan of these two lenses. It is hard to explain, but the images from these two lenses did not work for me. Good thing is the value of lens does not change much, so we can buy and try any lenses as much as possible and then decide which one will keep and use and which one will sell. This is totally my personal feelings and no offense to anyone or any lens:) SATOKI

biswasg Posted May 7, 2011 Author Share #42 Posted May 7, 2011 Thank you all for your excellent suggestions. I ended up buying an Elmarit 28mm f2.8 ASPH as my first lens for the M8. The reason being to have an effective fov equivalent around 35mm and as my first choice summicron 35mm was not readily available. The lux is pricey and will have to wait till I get a hang of rangefinder focusing, somewhat of a challenge in my first couple of days coming from fast autofocusing DSLRs. I have a 28 Elmarit ASPH for my M9.. a lovely little lens. You will enjoy it at a 35mm equivalent. Good luck with it and post your images for us to enjoy.
