Advertisement Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Hi rfc, Take a look here Anyone received Mr Puts new Compendium yet?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoppyman Posted May 26, 2011 Share #142 Posted May 26, 2011 Peter, my copy arrived with those pages intact in Australia today. No little Pocket book that people are mentioning though! Something has gone very wrong in the binding by the sound of that. That would be maddening. I hope that Erwin can replace your copy for you. In good Leica tradition there are always special lenses and cameras. And the book of Mr Puts is no exeption to the rule. What happened? Well, I received my copy last week, May 10th, started to read. And thanks to LFI (about lens production and the Summarit M line) I was curious to know what was in the Leica Compendium about the Summarit 35mm, page 428. Wow! No way! Pagenumbers went from 416 to 433. So I suppose the value of the book is even more with less pages! Again a collector's item is born.:D Peter
hoppyman Posted May 26, 2011 Share #143 Posted May 26, 2011 On first glance through, all of the pages, even the ones on wide angle lenses are white right to the corners with no magenta nor cyan visible. I noticed a couple of typos which are trivial for me in comparison to the excellent resource that this book provides. Now we await complaints that there should be a digital CL version. It should be smaller, have optional two handed manual page turning, be smaller and cost half as much. Also my copy will not fit in the same bookshelf as the old one. I demand that the bookcase be repaired under the book warranty. I heard a rumour that Nikon will be producing a version and of course Canon would have been able to deliver my copy much faster. Ecar Posted May 26, 2011 Share #145 Posted May 26, 2011 Got mine a couple of days ago. No pocket book - appears to be download only from his site.
henning Posted May 26, 2011 Share #146 Posted May 26, 2011 Mine came yesterday to Vancouver, Canada. It is more than expected in size, weight and content (and in typos, mislabled photos and other errors). You just fee that Erwin chewed off a bit more than he could swallow on his own. Some linguistic and editorial help would certainly have made the book worth an additional $10 or €10. However, on balance it is a great achievement and is definitely worth it to me. k-hawinkler Posted May 27, 2011 Share #150 Posted May 27, 2011 USPS delivered the book today to my door steps, quite heavy, more in line with the weight of my Telyts rather than the 28/2.8 M-lens. Thankfully, Mr Puts also covered the Telyts in the last few pages. Splendid. The promised digital version will be fun to search in. K-H.
